M/S Luna Shore visits Valley of the Kings
Luxor · West Bank
Sixty-three tombs cut into a dry valley, three of them open on the day you visit.
For five hundred years the pharaohs of the New Kingdom were buried here rather than under pyramids — a deliberate change of strategy that did not, in the end, stop the robbers. Sixty-three tombs have been found; a rotating handful are open at any time to spread the wear.
Three tombs are included with the standard ticket. Tutankhamun’s and Seti I’s are separately ticketed and worth it — Seti I in particular, which is the longest and most completely decorated tomb in the valley.
