M/S Luna is one ship, run by the family that owns her. There is no fleet behind us and no call centre: the person who answers your enquiry is the person who will be at the gangway when you arrive.
She was built in 1998 and rebuilt in 2026 — not refreshed, rebuilt. Every cabin was stripped to the steel, the bathrooms replaced, the sun deck and pool reconstructed, and the dining room restored around the Art Deco stained-glass ceiling that was the one thing on board worth keeping exactly as it was.
What we do differently
Fifty-two cabins is small for a Nile ship. That is a deliberate limit: it means one sitting at dinner, guides who take groups of a dozen rather than forty, and mooring positions that larger ships cannot take — alongside the corniche at Edfu, at the temple steps at Kom Ombo, and close enough in Aswan to walk to the felucca landing.
Who sails with us
Mostly couples and small groups from Europe and North America, in the October–April season, and a steady number of returning guests who did the three-night sailing first and came back for the four. We take single travellers without a share arrangement, and families in the school holidays.

The mooring at Kom Ombo made the trip
We had done a Nile cruise before on a much bigger ship and spent half of it on coaches. Luna ties up at the temple steps at Kom Ombo — you walk off and you are there. That difference is the whole holiday.

One sitting at dinner, and it shows
Everyone eats at the same time, so the dining room fills and empties together and the staff are not run off their feet. The room itself, with the coloured glass ceiling, is worth the booking on its own.

Ask for a suite if you can
The balcony on the upper deck is the reason to pay the difference. We had breakfast out there twice and watched the bank go past for hours in the afternoon between Edfu and Kom Ombo.
